Golf Course Schedule & Projects
Here we are almost Labor Day! What a season it has been for the golf course. From heat and humidity to excessive rain. Speaking of excessive rain, during the August 18th monsoon we received “about” 10 inches of rainfall I say “about” because our rain gauge overflowed at 7 inches! With all the heat and rain the turf has been under significant stress with rooting being compromised and shortened due to a lack of oxygen to thin layers of silt deposit that does not allow airflow to the roots. This is why it is so important for all members to adhere to our cart rules as cart traffic can damage the turf as we’ve seen in spots on the course.
While we were waiting for the course to dry, you saw that we took advantage and still aerified the greens. This process was a significant help with getting oxygen to the roots. At this time of year, the recovery happens fairly quickly. We are also aerifying the tees and fairways on October 16th.
As we continue into the fall with great golf weather, I want to remind everyone to please remember to fix your ball marks and divots. I have spoken to several people on the golf course about this and it should be automatic as we play. Everyone needs to do their part.
We look forward to a great fall season and want to thank everyone for their patience with this cleanup process after the flood. It has been one of my bigger challenges here at the club. We are repairing it as quickly as possible.
Look forward to seeing all of you out there and enjoy! I will leave you this month with some pictures of last week.

Golf Course Reminders
As we enter our peak golf season we would like to remind everyone of some ways to keep up our pace of play, and keep our golf course in the best condition possible. Pace of play for all rounds are expected to be four hours or less. The target time is 1:50 for the front nine, a five minute turn time, and 2:00 for the back 9. Weekend mornings are especially busy, it is imperative to keep up with the group in front of you. If you see empty holes in front of you, and multiple groups behind, please move forward. We will be monitoring turn times for all groups throughout the week not just on the weekends.
In any event you need assistance with pace of play please feel free to contact the Pro Shop at 203-264-8081 and we will send a member of the Golf Staff out to assist.
Always play ready golf, help your partners by watching their tee shots, be ready to hit when its your turn, and park golf carts in a position close to the next tee. A well paced round is always a more enjoyable one!
We would also like to remind everyone to replace their ball marks on greens, as we have been noticing an increased number of unfixed marks. As always please feel free to speak with the Golf Professional staff if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you.
Cart Path Reminder
As a friendly reminder please adhere to the Cart Path rules of staying on the cart paths and rough only during play, especially on all Par 3s. No carts are allowed near the greens on any hole. The Maintenance Staff works very hard on keeping the course in tip top shape for the all the members please, do not disrupt their hard work.
