March Member Update

A Letter From Chris Caulfield, General Manager:

Dear Members,

I hope you all had a wonderful winter and are eager to return to the golf course, sunshine, and green grass this spring! We are aiming to reopen for play beginning Friday, March 15th. This date is subject to change based on weather. Brett and his crew are eager to see the remaining snow melt and begin clearing the course from winter debris. We had major flooding on the front 9 in December and we will be addressing some areas of wash out before we reopen.

I’m very excited to announce that we are in the process of taking the Snackbar/Grill Room in-house as a Member Only Area that will service our members and guests. Once open, Members will be allowed to charge food and beverage to their accounts, have consistent service provided by their club, and will have an area that is private. We are working hand-in-hand with The 1850 House for a smooth transition as they will continue to execute all events through the first half of the year, with our plans to open the Silo Point Grill to Members Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024! More details to follow in the coming months.

Over the next two months, I will be introducing you to the rest of the Golf Operations Management staff. In the first week of March, Jerry Chylkowski, our new Head Golf Professional, is scheduled to join us followed by Tim Fleck, our new Assistant Golf Professional in mid-April. I look forward to introducing both Jerry and Tim to the membership when they come aboard. (Read their bios here)

Linked below is our 2024 Club Calendar. We are very excited to be taking the events in-house and allowing Members to charge their Member Account for the entry fee to weekend and special events. The club will remain with the Member-Guest and Member-Member event payments due at time of sign up, but the remaining events will be able to be charged to the account along with Grill Room and on-course food and beverage, once opened.

We will follow up with more information on Member Leagues and how to get involved.

A Letter From Brett Richards, Golf Course Superintendent:

Welcome back from the Silo Point Country Club Golf Course Maintenance Department! We hope everyone is relaxing over the winter and getting ready for the golf season.

The golf course still remains quite wet. (It is raining once again at the time of writing this.) Although warmer temperatures are on the way, drying is a key factor and that will take some time, not only for playability but for cleanup from the river overflowing this winter. The river has left behind a lot of silt and debris and some bunkers and bridges were washed out, cleanup of which is a tedious process. We are working with staff and contractors to clean this up and have the course ready for play.

Our Maintenance Department has taken delivery of some much-needed equipment! Since the fall, we have acquired two greens mowers, two rough mowers, two fairway mowers, and a new spray rig. This new equipment will greatly help in producing a quality product for our Members.

We are sure everyone is gearing up for golf and the season will be here soon. We appreciate everybody’s patience in our large cleanup efforts as we are doing all we can as weather provides to get the golf course ready!

See you soon,

Brett Richards

Golf Course Superintendent
