Golf Course Schedule & Projects

Hello once again from the Maintenance Department at Silo Point. At the time of writing this, downpours and over an inch of rain has soaked the golf course once again… With this, I want to remind everyone to keep carts in the rough and cart paths whenever possible.  At this time of year as we get into the heart of the season this can cause severe turf damage after a soaking rain.
We have seen these rains throughout the spring, and it has made our daily and weekly mowing a challenge from time to time.  Basic jobs like getting all of the rough cut every week, especially on holes 12-14 is a challenge.
We have also continued to add more sand to bunkers that need them due to compaction and weather moving the sand.  This will be an ongoing process as we see the need to increase the amount of sand from time to time.
I would like to remind everyone that we are in the height of the season and how important it is to use the divot mix whenever we take a divot as well as repair all of our ball marks. If everyone does their part, it is easy. I have had people say, “its only one”.  Imagine if everyone did that…
You may also have noticed the tree work on the left side of the 13th hole. We removed several trees to reclaim the rough that has been encroached over the years and create a better sight line on the hole.
We hope that everyone is enjoying the golf course now that warmer weather is here. I am always available on the golf course should you have any questions or concerns. Enjoy your rounds and have fun!!
Brett Richards, Golf Course Superintendent
